The Future of the Research University Lecture Series
Sponsored by the
Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies presents
A Conversation with Women Provosts
Wednesday, October 6, 1999
12:00 nooon - 2:00 p.m.
Michigan League Ballroom
Panelists Include:
Nancy Cantor, Provost, University of Michigan
Elizabeth Hoffman, Provost, University of Illinois at Chicago
Lou Anna Simon, Provost, Michigan State University
This panel is expected to be a very lively discussion among three women provosts from large research-based institutions. They will share their perspectives on what they see as the emerging issues facing higher education. For example, current trends show that women students have come to outnumber their male peers on many residential campuses. If this trend continues, will we need to adjust our programs? Should we predict that this trend will prevail at senior administrative levels as well or will men continue to hold the majority of these positions?
Join us as they direct a provocative conservation on gender
and change in higher education.
